Handcoloured engraving

This hand-coloured engraving shows the Mumbai (Bombay) harbour with tall palm trees and houses built in semi-European style with elaborately carved brackets of teak wood, painted green and red. This engraving is part of a recent acquisition of prints, lithographs, photographs, aquatints and plates dated from the 18th to early 20th centuries which enhance and compliment the Museum’s permanent display on Mumbai.
