Workshop | Where the Eye Wanders
With Zainab Tambawalla
Join us for a workshop and a guided walkthrough navigating the visual and sonic elements in 'Landscape Plays', and linger on what draws your attention. Inspired by Heiner Goebbels’ approach to spectatorship, the session encourages a way of seeing that is unstructured and self-directed, much like encountering a landscape. Participants are invited to experiment with materials, textures, and objects to reflect on their own relationships with art, space, and environment.

Object of the Month

Stationary Box; sadeli, mid-nineteenth century, Bombay.
This hexagonal box was a travel essential for European and Indian elites in the 19th century. Designed with compartments of varying heights, it neatly stored letters, envelopes, bills, and writing supplies, with notched edges for easy access. A fine example of Sadeli, an intricate ivory and wood inlay craft of Persian origin, these boxes were highly sought after at at the international exhibitions as “Bombay Boxes”.
